Hitting the first jump in the boys varsity 100 hurdles on Thursday.

 

The San Marcos girls track and field team clinched the Channel League title with a 99-27 victory over Buena on Thursday afternoon.

The Royals were led by Jennifer Nnoli, who won the 100 (12.59) and 200 (26.52). She also anchored the winning 4 x 100 relay team (49.29) with Danielle Anderson, Allie Jones, and Olivia Jones. Adilene Aldapa set a new school record in the 3200 with a time of 10:49.52. Erica Schroeder chipped in with victories in the mile (5:14.39) and the 400 (59.03).

“Great day for the Royals and I’m so proud of all of our athletes,” said San Marcos head coach Marilyn Hantgin. “It is great to know that we are league champs and academic champions.”

On the boys side, the Royals clinched 2nd place in Channel League with an 81-46 victory over the Bulldogs.

In the jumping events, Cameron Shinn swept the field away with a trifecta of victories. The senior won the long jump (20-09), triple jump (42-10.5) and the high jump (5-6). Jarrison Ball won the shot put (45-11.5) and discus (114-11). Walker Odell finished 2nd in the 800 (1:59.2) for the Royals.

The San Marcos boys and girls teams compete next at the County Championships at Carpinteria High on April 25.
