Walker Bell missed the Channel League record by less than one second in the 200 individual medley, won the 100 butterfly and was part of two winning relay teams, leading the Dos Pueblos boys swim team to a 107-79 win over Ventura in a Channel League meet on Wednesday.
The DP girls suffered a narrow 96-90 defeat against the Cougars.
The USC-bound Bell was timed in 1:51.92 in the 200 IM, finishing six seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer. He swam the 100 fly in 50.11. He started the 200 medley team, which won in a CIF automatic qualifying time of 1:36.66. Blake Parrish, Alex Valente and John Stivers completed the team. The 400 free relay team of Theo Velikov, Bell, Parrish and Valente won in a CIF time of 3:13.20.
Valente, who also signed with USC, and Velikov each won two individual events. Velikov took the 200 free (1:47.44) and 100 free (48.99), while Valente won the 50 free (21.75) and 100 back (50.99) in a CIF time.
Parrish won his specialty, the 100 breast, in a CIF time of 1:00.72. In only is third time swimming the event, Dylan Elliott won the 500 free in 5:01.21.
The Charger boys improved to 6-0 on the season.
Walker Bell claimed a pair of individual victories for the DP boys (6-0), taking the 100-yard butterfly in a CIF Automatic time of 50.11 seconds, and missed the league record by one second in winning the 200 individual medley (1:51.92).
On the girls side, the team of Danielle Castleberg, Petra Huebner, Britini Tisdale and Reagan Eickert won the 200 free relay in 1:45.76. The other DP winner was Mariah Dodero, who led a sweep in diving with 189.80 points
