Nordhoff built a 4-0 lead after two innings and never looked back against Carpinteria on Friday in a 13-4 Tri-Valley League victory for the Rangers.
The Warriors scored their first run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-1, but Nordhoff answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend the difference.
Carpinteria’s offensive leaders were Malcom Gordon, Nick Walker, Brandon Camacho and Ricky Medina. Gordon and Walker had multi-hit games, Camacho scored twice and Medina delivered a two-run single in the seventh.
“Nordoff was ready, the conditions were challenging, and we did little to overcome the factors associated with playing on the road,” said Warriors head coach Pat Cooney. “Still, we are seeing the younger players develop and improve every single game.”
Cooper Garcia picked up the victory on the mound for Nordhoff (9-7, 4-2).
Carpinteria (4-11, 1-3) faces Bishop Diego in a two-game league series next week starting on Wednesday at Bishop.
