Jessie Speier doubled and drove in three runs, leading Dos Pueblos to a 7-3 win over Santa Maria in the first game of a non-league doubleheader on Thursday at DP.
Santa Maria took the nightcap, 4-1, behind the pitching of Luis Pantoja. He allowed four hits and one run in a complete-game performance.
Darby Naughton pitched four innings the opener to pick up the victory. The Chargers gave him a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Santa Maria came back with two in the second, and it was 4-3 game until DP scored three in the sixth.
Dustin Demeter drove in the lone run for DP in the nightcap in the sixth inning. The Saints jumped on DP starter Josh Knight for three runs.
Dos Pueblos is 9-11 on the season while Santa Maria is 6-8.
