Dos Pueblos scored two runs in the first and two in the seventh on its way to a 5-3 Channel League victory over Ventura on Friday. The Chargers’ two-game sweep of the Cougars vaulted Dos Pueblos into first place in the league standings.
Darby Naughton pitched six innings for Dos Pueblos and was helped with a good defensive day behind him. Austin Bull made an appearance before Travis Craven came in to record the save.
Leadoff hitter Quinn Peacock had two hits for Dos Pueblos while Dustin Demeter drove in two runs. Gio Macias did his part with two runs scored.
Jayden Metz was Ventura’s starting pitcher, allowing three runs (one earned) in 4 2/3 innings.
Ventura (3-3) has a bye week from league play coming up and will take on Santa Barbara next in two weeks.
Dos Pueblos (4-2) faces Santa Barbara (4-2) in a two-game series next week.
