The San Marcos girls lacrosse team came out firing with a 6-0 lead and never looked back, overcoming their crosstown rival Santa Barbara High in a riveting 11-7 Channel League decision on Thursday.
After creating a demanding deficit early on, the Dons retaliated with a strong momentum boost to put them within striking distance of the Royals by halftime. However with a two point cushion going into the second, San Marcos closed out the game with a fundamental performance.
Summer Bosse had a game high of six goals, Allison Bliss drilled in three and both Eveline Mayner and Leila Riveroll scored one goal apiece. Goalie Alyssa Dixon had a great game in goal with six saves.
“I am so proud of the intensity and passion that the girls showed on the field tonight. They used each other and came together as a team to support each other on and off the field,” said San Marcos head coach Kelly Boyle.
