Santa Barbara High held off a second-hald rally by West Ranch on Thursday and triumphed 8-4.
The Dons led 6-0 at halftime by outshooting the Wildcats 18-2 and dominating possession. West Ranch returned to the field a different team in the second half and limited the Dons to just two more goals.
Overall the Dons won the draw control battle 8-4 and ground balls 23-3.
Mia Barton’s four goals led Santa Barbara in scoring. Sophie Tate added two while Sixtine Bellini and Maria De Angelis netted one each. Midfielder Kate Mascari forced three turnovers and provided a strong defensive presence with Bellini and Sophie DiFilippo according to Dons coach Kristin Boehm.
