Cate defeated San Marcos 20-6 during a girls lacrosse matchup at Warkentin Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams were led by Brie Walker, who scored a team-high eight goals. Maddie Becker won four draws and scored three goals while Victoria Herman scored a goal and played effective in transition. Goalkeeper Jessica Liou had 10 saves on the day for Cate.
After the Rams scored only three goals in the first half, senior midfielders Elli Park and Kate Dehlendorf stepped up their play on with both the attack and defense. Overall, Cate controlled more than 50% of the ground balls in the match.
“It has been great to see the growth of the sport in Santa Barbara with the all three area high schools playing on the varsity level,” concluded Rams head coach Renee Mack. “I look forward to continued growth in the area over the next few years.”
With the victory, Cate improves its record to 11-1 overall on the season. The Rams wrap up their regular season with a home game against Thacher on Thursday.
