Cate overcame a scrappy Foothill Tech and won a four-game match (25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19) in Tri-Valley League boys volleyball action on Tuesday in Ventura.
“Their defense was incredible,” Cate coach Greg Novak said of Foothill Tech. “They were digging everything and we were getting a little frustrated in the second game.”
But the one-two punch of Morgan Pierce and Oliver Welch proved to be too much for Foothill Tech. They combined for 46 kills, with Pierce leading the way with 27.
“We stayed calm and eliminated our errors and it paid off in the third and fourth sets,”said Novak.
The Rams, 5-4 overall and 5-3 in the TVL, play host to Malibu on Friday.
