In a battle of CIF Division 5 top-five boys volleyball teams, No. 3 Laguna Blanca lost in four sets at No. 1 Damien on Saturday in La Verne. The scores were 25-22, 25-27, 25-17, 25-18.
“Tactically, we were right there with them, and actually played better offensively than we have all season, which is nice,” Laguna coach Dillan Bennett said. “Now we just need to practice making adjustments in order to put pressure on them, as well as make smarter plays during critical times late in sets.”
Ryan Bickett pounded 14 kills, Chris Costantino had 13 and Ethan Katnic added nine to pace the Owls attack. Defensively, Pierce O’Donnell picked up 30 digs.
Laguna Blanca is 3-4 overall.
