Top-seeded Loyola and No. 3 Corona del Mar advanced to the championship match of the Karch Kiraly Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Loyola knocked off No. 4 Newbury Park, 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 25-16. Corona del Mar upended second-seeded Mira Costa, 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20.
The championship match is set for 6 p.m. at Santa Barbara High’s JR Richards Gym.
Newbury Park and Mira Costa will play the third place at 2:15 p.m. (a switch in the schedule to accommodate Newbury Park, which has its prom tonight)
In other Saturday morning action, the host Dons defeated Simi Valley, 27-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 to reach the fifth-place match. They’ll play Royal at 4 p.m. Royal rallied from a 2-0 deficit and defeated Fresno-Buchanan, 22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-10. Buchanan and Simi are playing for seventh place.
Dos Pueblos defeated West Ranch in five sets (22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, 15-10) and advanced to the consolation final against Bellarmine Prep at 5:45 p.m. Bellarmine Prep beat San Marcos, 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 in the other consolation semifinal. The Royals play West Ranch for 11th place at 4 p.m.
