Jeremy Saito and the doubles team of Bryan Taira and Jonathon Cleek each ran way with a set on the day, but it was not enough for the Carpinteria boys tennis team to defeat Thacher as they fell 16-2 in Ojai on Thursday.
Jeremy Saito won one set at No.3 berth and almost came up with another, falling on the bottom of end of a 6-4 squeaker. Similarly, Bryan Taira and Jonathon Cleek combined to get a successful start in winning their opening set before going on to lose 7-5 later in the match.
“Overall, we played fine,” said coach Charles Bryant. “Solid in some aspects and just plain inconsistent in others. We had some great points and many of the sets were closer than the scores but Thacher was just too deep and too strong.”
The Warriors fall to 2-6 in Tri-Valley League and 8-10 overall as they progress toward the conclusion of the regular season.
