San Marcos didn’t drop a set in the final two rounds against Ventura on Tuesday to capture the Channel League match 16-2.
Ventura won two sets in the first round but the Royals dominated from that point on. Lars Scanell and Daniel Coulson led the singles effort. Coulson won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley called it the best tennis of his season.
“Dan has improved his all around game tremendously the past few months,” Bradley explained. “He’s committed to being the best tennis player he can be and it shows. His first serve percentage was around 80 percent and he won many of his service games at love.”
San Marcos’ No. 1 doubles team of Christo Anderson and Cody Krueger swept their sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
“Christo and Cody played with passion and enthusiasm today. They were aggressive at the net and served well,” Bradley said.
Another doubles sweep came from Nick Leeds and Sebastian Gutierrez.
San Marcos has a non-league match against Arroyo Grande, the No. 8 ranked team in CIF Division 3, on Wednesday.
