Cate’s singles lineup swept all its matches and the doubles team of Brendan Lokre-Jacob Farner was just as lethal as Cate defeated Carpinteria 17-1 in a Tri-Valley League match on Monday.
Lokre and Farner won their sets 6-0, 6-2, 6-1.
Bryan Taira and Jonathan Cleek, a new pairing for Carpinteria, won the Warriors’ one point in a 7-6 win. The duo almost took a second but fell in another tiebreaker.
“Having never played together before, they improved with each set and I was impressed with ability to compete,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant.
Jason Xiao led Cate’s singles with a 3-0 day. Starters Kevin Ha and Edward Cho grabbed two sets each before resting in the third round.
The victory improves Cate to 3-1 in league play while the Warriors drop to 1-3.
