San Luis Obispo produced a workmanlike 12-6 non-league victory over Cate on Thursday.
The Tigers won each round 4-2. It was almost different in the third round but Michael Nettesheim and Christian Herman were stopped in a tiebreaker from sweeping their three doubles sets. Kevin Ha went 2-1 in singles.
“Despite coming out on the wrong side of the ledger sheet this afternoon, this was the most complete and competitive match of the season for the Rams,” said Rams head coach Robert Bonning. “Great energy, great work ethic, and determined tennis on every point in every match all afternoon.”
Cate, 3-3 on the season, hosts Carpinteria on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
