The absence of Spencer Ekola did not go unnoticed as the Bishop Diego boys tennis team was not only devoid of their No. 1 singles player, but was also unable to substitute in a replacement and could not overcome the disadvantage in a 14-4 loss against Foothill Tech on Thursday.
Mikey Kelly played at the unfamiliar No. 1 singles position but managed just fine as he went 2-1 on the day. Cameron Roberts teamed up with Jake Stratford-Jones in doubles to tally two sets as well.
The Cardinals fall to 4-2 in league and 6-6 overall.
