The Carpinteria boys tennis team defeated St. Bonaventure by a score of 13-5 during a Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday afternoon.
“We had a few different pairings today but the boys did well,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant. “However, I wish that we would have pushed ourselves a bit more in this match as we tried to implement new strategies.”
Overall, Carpinteria’s singles players finished a perfect 9-0. Jeremy Saito and Bryan Taira each went 3-0 on the day. Warriors’ No. 1 singles player Jonathan Cleek went 2-0 before being subbed out by Jacques Jougla. In doubles play, the duo of Sam Truax paired with Jacob Ascencio went 2-0.
With the victory, Carpinteria improves it’s record to 8-7 overall, 2-3 league. The schedule now gets tougher for the Warriors, as their next three matches are against the three top teams in the Tri-Valley.
