The San Marcos track and field team defeated Santa Barbara in both the boys and girls competition during a dual meet on Thursday afternoon at Warkentin Stadium.
“It was an overall good day today for both our girls and boys teams,” said Royals head coach Marilyn Hantgin.
San Marcos was led by Courtney Clyde, who won the triple jump at 33-05 and the high jump at 4-10. Freshman Jennifer Nnoli won both the 100 (12.80) and 200 (26.42). Adilene Aldapa claimed victories in the 1,600 (5:14.76) and the 3,200 (11:26.09).
“Courtney Clyde had a great day for us in the jumps,” added coach Hantgin.
On the boys side, Cameron Shinn led the Royals with victories in the the long jump 19-07.25, triple jump 41-11.5, and high jump 5-06. Garrett Paulson won the 100 (11.73) and 200 (23.79). Tyson Miller won the 400 (50.95) while Walker Odell won the 800 (2:02.92).
For Santa Barbara, Natasha Feshbach was a triple winner. She took the 100 hurdles in 15.68, 300 hurdles in 47.97 and the long jump with a mark of 17-11.5. She also finished third in the shot put with a personal best of 31-4.
Kiasa Salgado won the boys 300 hurdles in 48.79 and took second in the 400 at 52.15. Diego Tapia won the discus at 131-9 and placed second in the shot put at 39-1.50
