Olivia Smith, Paige Hauschild and the diving team led San Marcos’ girls past Ventura on Thursday, 108-78, while the boys team fell to the Cougars 115-71.
The Royals swept the diving competition at the start with Sophia Gaynes, Rachel Wolf and Savannah Eggers going 1-2-3 in that order.
Smith picked up victories in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.46, and the 100 butterfly in a time of 58.66. Hauschild’s two wins came in the 100 free (53.00) and the 200 free (1.53.94.).
I was very proud of our efforts today. We have been training hard and we found a way to race and get the win,” said Royals girls coach Chuckie Roth, who noted PRs by Megan Bergthold in the 200 free and Piper Smith in the 50 free.
Sean Apsey was a double-winner for the boys team with victories in the 500 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
