Paige Hauschild and Maija Ninness lowered school records on Friday as the San Marcos girls swimming team defeated Ayala and Troy in a three-way meet at Fullerton City College.
The San Marcos boys team tied Ayala 85-85 but lost to Troy 89-80. The girls team scores were 102-68 over Ayala and 131-39 over Troy.
Hauschild was clocked at 52.44 in the 100 free and Ninness, a freshman, was timed at 1.00.99 in the 100 backstroke. San Marcos showed strength in the relays winning the 200 medley in 1:57.81 and the 400 free relay in 3:39.51. Individually, freshman Lilly Rose Akin recorded two personal bests in the 100 free (56.89) and 200 free (2:05.10).
San Marcos’ girls improve to 5-0 on the season.
George Kuesis led the boys team with a pair of individual wins in the 200 free and 100 free. Kuesis also contributed to the Royals’ winning 200 free relay team that included Alex Zauner, Chuck Sweeney and Ben Spievak.
Other San Marcos victories included Sean Apsey in the 500 free and Patrick Rowley in the 100 backstroke. Apsey, Kuesis, Zauner and Billy Schulte combined for the 400 free relay and added another relay triumph for the Royals.
