SFT: Warriors win with Saito’s big inning

Natalie Saito had five RBI in one inning on Tuesday as Carpinteria’s softball team defeated Santa Ynez 16-4.

Saito’s bases-clearing triple and two-run single highlighted a nine-run seventh inning for the Warriors. Saito also scored twice in the inning.

Thirteen of Carpinteria’s 16 runs came in the final two innings.

“We started out slow and sluggish but got better as the game went forward,” reported Warriors head coach Henry Gonzales. “Got some timely hits in the 6th & 7th innings to score four and nine runs to put the game away.”

Scarlett Pettine added a pair of hits in the game and two RBI.

Starting pitcher Amanda Blair struck out 11 and allowed three hits.

Carpinteria (3-2) faces Santa Clara next.
