Veronica Villarreal and Aliyah Huerta-Leipner had big games for San Marcos on Wednesday in a 12-0 non-league victory over Channel Islands.
Huerta-Leipner picked up the pitching win and went 3-3 at the plate with four runs scored. Villarreal had four hits, including a triple and two doubles, with two runs scored and two RBI. Caitlin Tucker and Hailey Fryklund hit home runs for the Royals.
San Marcos led 6-0 after three innings, then built the 12-0 lead with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
“I was encouraged to see our team come back and play another good game after a great effort against DP yesterday,” reported Royals head coach Jeff Swann. “I especially like the effort and focus with our pitching, catching and team defense which continues to play consistently well.”
