Hueneme teased Carpinteria on Wednesday, letting the Warriors tie the game at 7-7 before scoring the winning run in the sixth inning of an 8-7 result.
The Warriors led 4-0 early on but Hueneme raced ahead thanks to a seven-run fourth inning.
Reagan Singer and Ari Macias smacked two hits and drove home a pair of runs each. Macias’ two RBI came on a double in the fifth inning that scored Tori Kelley and Sierra Diaz to tie the game at 7-7. Natalie Saito and Mikayla Blair had three hits and an RBI. The Warriors had 14 hits as a team.
“We hit the ball very well but we have to put all phases of the game together to win consistently. I’m confident that we will do that and be a factor in the TVL race,” commented Warriors head coach Henry Gonzales.
Carpinteria (4-6) hosts Nipomo on Saturday in a doubleheader.
