Foothill Tech shut out Bishop Diego on Thursday, 3-0, in the Frontier League opener for both teams.
Despite the final score, Cardinals head coach Jon Ceriale saw good things from his team.
“Today’s game was a step in the right direction; we showed a lot of improvement,” Ceriale reported. “I am looking forward to see how much more we improve on Saturday at Santa Maria.”
Jessica Mendoza picked up the win for the Dragons by limiting the Cardinals to two hits. Bishop Diego’s Isabella Gregson allowed one earned run in the loss.
Foothill Tech scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings on its way to victory.
