SFT: DP finishes Manlet Invite with 2 impressive wins

Dos Pueblos pounded league rival Ventura 13-0 to take fifth place at the Suzanne Manlet Invitational softball tournament in Simi Valley on Saturday.

The Chargers lost to the Cougars in a Channel League game on Friday. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on Saturday and blew the game open with nine runs in the fourth. The game was called by the mercy rule.

Veronika Gulvin and Lani Evans combined on a two hitter.

Madison Buie, Veronika Gulvin and Kai Uyesaka, all had multiple hits in the game.

Earlier, Gulvin came through with her second no-hitter of the week, blanking Alemany 5-0. She missed duplicating her perfect game performance only walking one.  She finished with 12 strikeouts against a team that was averaging 9 runs per game.

Evans laced a home run far beyond the center fielder rolling up on the 320 foot fence.

DP hosts Rio Mesa on Wednesday before traveling to Buena on Friday for a league game.
