Two runs in the top of the seventh pushed Ventura past Dos Pueblos on Friday, 3-2, in the Channel League opener for both teams.
Dos Pueblos put up two runs in the first inning but remained quiet after that. Ventura scored one run in the top of the fifth and took the lead in the seventh.
Lani Evans led off the bottom of the seventh with a double for the Chargers but was stranded at third. Ali Milam recorded an RBI single in the first inning and scored on an RBI triple by Evans.
Chargers head coach Jon Uyesaka praised the defensive work from shortstop Sam Sander and third baseman Jade Sinskul.
DP (2-3) plays again on Saturday against Alemany at the Suzanne Manlet Invitational in Simi Valley.
