Teagan Singer had two hits and drove in three runs, leading Carpinteria to an 8-7 victory over Nipomo in the first game of a non-league softball doubleheader on Saturday.
Nipomo won the nightcap 8-5.
Scarlett Pettine collected three hits, stole two bases and scored three runs in the opener, and Mikayla Blair had two hits and scored twice. Amanda Blair hurled a complete-game victory.
In the second game, Sierra Diaz, Pettine and Natalie Saito each had two hits. Saito drove in two runs Diaz had one RBI and Pettine stole two more bases.
“We still are not playing well in all phases of the game, but we are happy to get a split,” Carpinteria coach Henry Gonzalez said. “We hit the ball well again, getting 21 hits in the two games.”
