Natalie Saito had five hits in a Carpinteria split at the Santa Ynez softball tournament on Saturday.
The Warriors defeated Santa Maria 5-4 in their first game and lost 7-0 against Pioneer Valley in the finale. They finished 3-1 in the tournament.
“We played with some grit in the first game and beat a good Santa Maria team,” coach Henry Gonzalez said. “However, we couldn’t quite keep it going in the second game.”
Mikayla Blair had three hits, a run and a RBI and Amanda Blair pitched a complete game against Santa Maria.
“It was a very good tournament for us going 3-1 versus high quality opponents. We are headed in the right direction,” said Gonzalez.
The Warriors are 4-4 on the season.
