RJ Cordeiro sparked Bishop Diego on Friday with a three-run homer in the first inning of a 12-3 victory for the Cardinals over Santa Paula.
Izzy Reyes delivered another big hit for the Cardinals in the second inning with a 3-run double. Matthew Selman later hit his own double with the bases loaded to score a pair of runs.
Cordeiro, who homered in his third-straight game, was 2-for-2 with four RBI. Reyes added a two-run single and finished 2-for-4 with five RBI.
Freshman pitcher Will Goodwin made the start and earned his first high school victory by throwing five solid innings.
The Cardinals were playing for the third time in three days. After a loss at home to Santa Paula on Wednesday, the Cardinals tied Mission Prep 9-9 on Thursday in an eight-inning game. Cordeiro hit a three-run home run in the first inning of that game as well. Ben Gunther belted a grand slam in the 6th inning.
