Cate opened its baseball season with an 11-2 victory over Maricopa on Tuesday.
Sophomore Joel Revo collected three hits and drove in two runs to pace an 13-hit Cate attack. Sophomore Dylan Ell had two hits and a RBI and Duffy Montgomery and Ryder Dinning each picked up a pair of hits.
Humza Khurshid pitched a hitless three innings and picked up the win. Ell, James Chung and Djata Nyaawie finished off the game and allowed only one hit.
“It was a nice way to start off our season,” assistant coach Dave Soto said. “Anytime we can pick up 13 hits and 11 runs in our first game it’s encouraging. We have plenty to work on going forward but I’m encouraged by our progress.”
