The Cate boys lacrosse team looked strong during its home opener versus Dos Pueblos on Thursday afternoon. The Rams throttled the Chargers by a score of 17-2 during a non-league matchup.
“We created a lot of turnovers in the riding game, and we were able to turn those extra possessions into goals,” said Cate head coach Philip Keebler.
Seven different players scored for the Rams, with Cole Brennen leading the team with five goals and three assists. Peter Marcus had four goals while Patrick Thomas finished with three goals and three assists.
“Winning over 80 percent of the face-offs also allowed us to keep the momentum and was key in our run of 15 unanswered goals,” added coach Keebler.
Cate goalkeeper Kian O’Connor recorded five saves on the day, with only one goal being scored against him. Isaiah Washington led the team in ground balls, with five. Pierce Lundt tallied his first varsity goal as time expired in the fourth quarter.
The Rams (3-0 overall) will travel to face Dunn on Tuesday.
