Cole Brennen poured in six goals to lead Cate to a 17-3 rout of San Marcos in the first-ever meeting between the schools in boys lacrosse on Tuesday.
Brennan scored in the first minue and Patrick Thomas added another quick goal for the Rams. But San Marcos fought back and tied the score at 3-3 at the end of the first quarter,
Cate then took command of the game. Noah Somartne gave the Rams the lead for good in the second quarter.
Defensively, Kian O’Connor made seven saves and Henry Dawson contained San Marcos’ top player.
Cate (2-0) plays its home opener Thursday against Dos Pueblos.
