GLF: Ledbetter shoots 68, but SBCC is edged by 1 stroke

SBCC freshman Jake Ledbetter fired a 4-under 68 on Monday to take medalist honors in the sixth WSC men’s golf tournament at Santa Maria Country Club.

Brett Patton added an even-par 72 for the Vaqueros, who came up one stroke shy in the team competition. Canyons won its fifth title of the year with a 368 and the Vaqueros were second at 369. Ventura took third at 382.

Jonny Hogan shot 75 for SBCC, one day after capturing the Goleta City Championship with rounds of 69 and 71 at Glen Annie GC.

“Several times this year, Canyons has opened the door for us but we weren’t able to come in and grab the win,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “We got great rounds from Jake and Brett today but we haven’t shown good consistency lately.”

The Vaqueros travel south to play in WSC No. 7 on Monday at San Dimas GC, starting at 11 a.m.
