Santa Barbara High improved to 6-0 in Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League on Saturday with wins over Arroyo Grande and Santa Ynez at Pismo Beach.
Santa Barbara prevailed over Arroyo Grande with a match score of 2-1. The freshmen duo of Linnea Skinner and Erika Foreman held down the No. 2 spot and gutted out a tough match (22-20, 19-21, 15-13) by playing consistently and serving very tough, said coach John Gannon. Ally Drevo and Zoe Maritorena played focused volleyball as the No. 3 team, and earned a two-set victory (21-13, 21-18). The Dons No. 1 team of Cassandra Amador and Tatum Vedder succumbed to a stiff challenge from Arroyo Grande and lost in two sets (19-21, 9-21).
Against Santa Ynez, the winds of Pismo Beach picked up, and the Dons used steady passing and strong ball control to earn two-set sweeps in all three matches. The senior duo of Tatum Vedder and Cassandra Amador bounced back well after their tough loss to Arroyo Grande and prevailed 21-19, 21-18.
The Dons currently have a 6-0 record in AAU play and sit atop the IBVL Riviera Division with a 4-0 record. They return to action on April 11th.
