SBCC broke open a tight game with 11 runs in the last two innings on Tuesday in a 14-4 nonconference baseball win over Glendale at Stengel Field.
The visiting Vaqueros (the teams use the same nickname) took an early 3-0 lead, then Glendale got a homer in the fourth and another run to pull within 3-2. Santa Barbara erupted for seven runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to earn its eighth win in nine games.
SBCC, ranked No. 5 in Southern Cal, improved to 20-6 on the year and No. 16 Glendale fell to 14-13. Santa Barbara is second in the WSC North and Glendale leads the WSC South with a 10-2 record.
Jake Gagain went 2-4 with two runs while Brandon Evans was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Cam Jones and Spencer Erdman had two hits apiece for the Vaqueros, who’ve won 20 or more games in nine straight seasons. The Vaqueros collected 14 hits with 10 getting at least one hit and 10 driving in at least one run.
Lucas Jacobsen (6-2) got the win, giving up two runs in six innings.
Santa Barbara will play its first night game of the year on Wednesday at No. 6 Riverside, starting at 5 p.m.
