The Dos Pueblos boys volleyball team was swept on the road by Newbury Park 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 on Tuesday night.
“Marginal passing was our Achilles heal tonight as we struggled to get the ball to our senior captain Mark Raphael,” said Chargers head coach Ehren Hug.
The Chargers were led by middle blocker Elliot Brainerd, who finished with 8 kills, 2 blocks, and an ace. Raphael chipped in with 26 assists and three blocks on the night.
“Elliot was flying high tonight and playing with a lot of heart, but the passing dictated what we could do and we just couldn’t get him the ball enough,” added coach Hug.
The Chargers play their home opener Wednesday against Westlake.
