Defensive breakdowns led to five-set loss by Cate at Fillmore in a Tri-Valley League boys volleyball match on Thursday. The scores were 25-20, 18-25, 25-13, 19-25. 15-11.
“We had problems with defense,” Cate coach Greg Novak said. “When we had momentum, we made some errors that were unforced.”
Despite the loss, Novak said the team looked better than it did in Tuesday’s victory.
Morgan Pierce led Cate with 19 kills and two blocks.
The Rams are 1-1 overall and in league. They’re home Tuesday against Bishop Diego.
