The Carpinteria boys tennis team’s five game winning streak came to an end as the Malibu Sharks prevailed 16-2 in a Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday.
Jonathan Cleek provided an avid effort for the Warriors, racking in a singles win at the No. 2 berth. Bryan Taira and Jeremy Saito teamed up to come out on top of their opening set against the opposition’s No. 3 doubles squad.
“We really did not play that poorly, we were just overwhelmed by a much stronger team in both singles and doubles,” said coach Charles Bryant. “We did have a few tight sets not go our way that I am hoping will translate into wins down the road just knowing we were right there. But for the most part they were just too strong from top to bottom.”
Carpinteria improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in league.
