The Santa Barbara boys tennis team improved its record to 4-0 on the year with an 11-7 victory over Viewpoint in Calabasas on Tuesday afternoon.
“It was a great team win and I was most pleased with the effort and focus shown by our players from start to finish,” said Dons head coach Greg Tebbe. “We were playing our best tennis in the last round which, as a coach, is what you want to see.”
Santa Barbara was led by the doubles teams of Miles Hale matched with Taggart Mills and Jordan Rodnick paired with Logan Lender, who each went 3-0. In singles play, Jackson Powell went 2-1 on the day.
“We were able to dominate the doubles by winning 11 out of the 12 doubles sets,” added Tebbe. “Just as important, however, was Jackson winning two out of three matches for us.”
The match was deadlocked 3-3 after the first round and the Dons slowly pulled away by winning the second and third rounds by identical 4-2 scores.
Next up for Santa Barbara is their annual trip to Fresno to play in the California Classic Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
