A ‘B’ team from Dos Pueblos defeated Carpinteria 13-5 in a non-league matchup on Thursday afternoon.
“Although the score was a bit lopsided, I was happy with how we played,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant. “We shifted our lineup a bit with a few new singles players and doubles pairings. With this being said, I was encouraged by some of the little things I saw.”
Carpinteria #3 singles player Jeremy Saito went 3-0 on the day. Bryan Taira battled hard to finish 1-2 for the Warriors.
In doubles play, the team of Sammy Gutierrez paired with Sam Truax went 1-2 for Carpinteria. However, the duo pulled out a solid win versus the Charger’s No. 1 team.
In doubles, I was able to see a few positioning and movement shortfalls along with not putting away our chances,” commented coach Bryant. “Still, we played patient and that was a big positive.”
With the defeat, the Warriors fall to 5-4 overall, 1-1 league.
