Jack Ransdell’s goal in the championship match gave Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s U11 Blue boys team a 1-0 victory and the title in the Cal South State Cup Governor’s Division on Sunday in San Bernardino.
The Boys U11 blitzed the tournament field with a record 8-0-1, scoring 21 goals compared to only four against. Among the several highlights of the tournament, Santa Barbara defeated defending champions, Oceanside Breakers, by 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
The State Cup’s Governor’s Division started with 84 teams.
Santa Barbara, coached by Hans Diaz, defeated SouthWestern FC in the final after surviving a penalty-kick shootout in the semifinals with South Valley SC that was decided 7-6.
Ransdell’s goal was assisted by Cason Goodman. Petar Jevremovic scored the winning goal in the shootout.
