Rafael Casanova scored 24 points on Wednesday, leading No. 18 Cuesta to an 80-47 men’s basketball win over SBCC in San Luis Obispo.
The Vaqueros fell behind 34-13 and trailed 41-30 at intermission. Cuesta won the second half 39-17.
Thomas Walker had 17 points and seven rebounds for SBCC (4-17, 0-9 WSC North). The Cougars (18-8, 8-2) remained in a first-place tie with L.A. Pierce with two games to play.
Cuesta outshot the Vaqueros 53.6 to 28.8 percent and hit 11-28 from 3-point country, led by Casanova’s 4-for-8 night. Santa Barbara was 2-23 from long distance and committed 13 turnovers, leading to 19 points. Cuesta had just six turnovers.
SBCC will play its final two home games vs. Ventura on Saturday and Hancock on Wednesday. Both start at 5 p.m.
