Laguna Blanca’s girls soccer team clinched a Condor League title with a 2-0 victory over Dunn on Thursday.
In the third minute, Kelly Bickett stole the ball from an Earwig midfielder and took the ball directly to goal. A hard shot from Bickett beat Dunn’s goalkeeper for the only goal of the first half.
During the second half, Bickett played a ball to Sophia Fay who took a long shot. The Earwigs’ goalkeeper mishandled the ball as it squeaked into the bottom of the net, giving the Owls a 2-0 lead.
On defense, Brynn Jewett made a number of crucial steals to preserve the clean sheet for Laguna.
Earlier this season, the two teams had battle to a scoreless draw. However, both squads had won all of their league games since.
With the victory, the Owls improve to (8-2-4 overall). By winning the Condor League, Laguna Blanca secures a home game in the first round of CIF playoffs, which begins next Thursday.
