The Dos Pueblos girls soccer team defeated Rio Mesa 1-0 in a non-league matchup Channel League matchup at Scott O’Leary Stadium on Thursday night.
“Our team capitalized on some good build up play down the right side to get the victory tonight,” said Dos Pueblos head coach Hugh Hollis.
In the 21st minute, Ady Willett scored the winning goal for the Chargers. Willett received the perfect pass from Kiara Amble that allowed her to break free from her defender and slide the ball past the Spartans’ goalkeeper.
After the break, Rio Mesa had a couple of looks at goal but never actually threatened to score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Anali Salazar recorded the shut out for Dos Pueblos.
With the victory, the Chargers finish up the regular season with a record of (11-6-3 overall, 6-1-1 league). Dos Pueblos finished second place in the league standings behind Buena and will learn its CIF playoff draw this weekend.
