Kelsie Bryant’s three goals powered Carpinteria over Cate on Thursday 4-1 in a Frontier League game.
Bryant scored the Warriors’ first three and assisted on Jenny Alaniz’s late goal.
Isabella Montes de Oca scored for Cate to tie the game 1-1.
The Warriors broke through first on a corner-kick sequence in which they won three straight. On the third, Alexa Benitez connected with Bryant’s head. Bryant’s second goal came on a free kick from 25 yards out.
Carpinteria head coach Charles Bryant praised the work from outside midfielders Natalie Saito and Brenda Garcia.
“They worked hard and had great runs that kept the pressure on the Cate defense,” Bryant said. “Alexa (Benitez) played her usual standout self and Kelsie (Bryant) too had a very strong game even though she was man-marked the entire time.”
Carpinteria improves to 12-7-1, 10-2.
