Cate rebounded from an 8-point first half deficit and rallied for a 33-31 victory over Foothill Tech in a Frontier League girls basketball playoff game for the league’s No. 2 CIF playoff berth on Friday at St. Bonaventure.
Elan Halpern sparked the second-half comeback with 16 points, five rebounds, five steals, two assists and a blocked shot. Brittany Newsome scored all 10 of her points in the second half and grabbed 8 rebounds. Delaney Mayfield dominated inside on the defensive end and pulled down 18 rebounds to go with seven points.
Coach Amy Venditta also praised the hustle of Morgan Prinz. “Though the stats don’t show it, Morgan Prinz played an incredible game, snatching every lose ball she could get her hands on,” said Venditta.
The Rams will learn their CIF playoff draw on Sunday.
