Cate cleaned up on the boards, dominated in the paint and scored a 54-33 girls basketball win over Foothill Tech, knocking the Dragons out of first place in the Frontier League.
“The post players all played incredible defense and were strong forces under the basket, scoring and rebounding,” said Cate coach Amy Venditta.
Elan Halpern was a force for the Rams, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also had three steals and three assists. Delaney Mayfield grabbed 14 rebounds to go with her eight points. Miriam Weiss and Brittany Newsome both had double-doubles: Weiss had 11 points, 10 rebounds and Newsome finished with 10 points and 10 boards.
“The girls played arguably better than they have all season for one continuous game,” said Venditta
