Viewpoint defeated San Marcos in Tuesday’s season opener, 12-6, in a non-league contest that was a rematch of the first round of last year’s CIF tournament.
The doubles team of Daniel Coulson and Christo Anderson led the Royals with three wins, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2. Coulson didn’t lose a game all day on his serve.
“Dan and Christo were aggressive in poaching and consistent with their returns,” said Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley.
Defending Channel League individual singles champion Kento Perera won two of three sets. He dropped his first set of the season before rallying to win his last two, including a 6-1 win over a player he lost to in the playoff match last spring.
San Marcos hosts Camarillo on Thursday.
