Santa Barbara and Cate started their seasons with a non-league match on Tuesday with the Dons winning 12-6.
Santa Barbara clinched the match in the second round which allowed Cate to close the gap in the final round.
The Dons’ starting doubles teams won six matches without a loss. Jordan Rodnick teamed with Logan Lender, Harry deBoer was with Taggart Mills, and Jake Sutton paired with Tyler Greenwald.
Cate’s Kevin Ha led the Rams by winning two of three sets in singles. His only loss came to Santa Barbara’s No. 1 Jackson Powell. Jason Xiao and Adesh Sahani also won sets in singles for Cate
Santa Barbara plays three matches during the first week of the season. The Dons travel to Arroyo Grande on Wednesday and host Palos Verdes on Thursday.
