Led by a stellar offensive performance from Danny Rodriguez, the Cate boys soccer team put the hammer down on Nordhoff in a 4-0 shut out on Wednesday.
Danny Rodriguez got the Rams on the board early with a goal only 29 seconds into the game. The second goal came in the 10th minute when Joel Serugo slotted one past the keeper off of a pass from Christian Herman.
Cate went into halftime with a 3-0 lead after Rodriguez fired in his second goal of the game in 37th minute which was assisted by Geoffrey Acheampong.
In the second half, it was Acheampong hooking up with Rodriguez once again after the latter finished the final goal of the game.
“On a day that required us to bring our best effort and energy in an attempt to secure a share of the Tri-Valley League Championship, we did just that for 80 minutes,” said coach Peter Mack. “I couldn’t be more impressed with our effort, our focus, or our desire to finish the job we started in November.”
With the final league victory of the season, the Rams improve to 11-2-2 overall and 8-1-1 in league play.
